A rare anthropomorphic gold ornament from Eastern Java,
dating to the 14th century during the Majapahit Kingdom.
This piece is in a cruciform shape with outstretched arms,
depicting a human figure used in ancient burial rituals to guide
and protect the soul in the afterlife.
Hand-forged from genuine ancient gold.
The surface displays a natural patina and hammer marks -
characteristic features of Majapahit gold craftsmanship.
The perforations on the torso and arms are characteristic
of very primitive funerary masks from that period.
The feather-like lower section and the texture on the body reflect tradisional
Javanese spiritual symbolism.
